If you have a blog that allows people to post comments, you should think about how you are going to manage your comments properly (and promptly). Here is a quick post that outlines why you should aim to deal with comments as fast as possibly.
How to deal with comments
It is very important that you deal with comments properly. When I say properly, I mean that you should have some framework idea for your comment management. If you moderate comments, you need to make sure that they are approved in a timely fashion.
Remember if you don’t publish comments fast enough, your visitors are likely to get upset and annoyed and they are likely to loose interest in your blog rather quickly.
On WordPress it is possible, to pre-moderate comments. This means that for the first comment that people post, you have to moderate it, and subsequent comments will be approved automatically. This can be found on your admin panel under Options >> Discussions >>
This is the setup I have for my comments. The previously approved comment is the important part here.
On Blogger it is found under Settings >> Comments
I would select the option “Who can comment” to allow Anyone comment.
Time to Approve Comments
When you know you are not going to be able to approve comments for a couple of days, I would let comments go through unmoderated. As you can always go back and delete SPAM comments once you are back. By doing this you don’t annoy people who would expect their comments to be approved with in 24/48 hours.
