Feedburner cutting back on what it gives out ?

subscribe to my feed

I am a big fan of statistics (I’ve studied them in college for a few years, so I know my stuff), and one good way to get some interesting stats is via FeedBurner for your blog. I check my feeds ever now and again to see if some of my blogs have suddenly taken a dive or had an increase of RSS subscribers. It’s a good way of gauging how popular your blog is becoming. Finding out that people clicking on your FeedBurner icon and subscribing is something that should motive you to keep doing what you are doing.

When I logged into the control panel I was quite surprised when I saw that the “all time” statistics for the feed count were no longer showing.

feedburner with less statistics

This is quite a shame as it was great to see your feed grow and grow over a longer period of time. I did some snooping around and I came across other people who have noticed this on the FeedBurner Forums. As mentioned on the thread there, the Feedburner staff are normally on top of these things quite quickly. But this has been reported since last Saturday, and still none of the staff have replied.

But all is not lost, well at least for the moment.

All time Statistics work-around

There is of course a work around solution, to get your data out of FeedBurner, so that can work wit those FeedBurner analyzers like the one from BlogPerfume.

  1. Login to FeedBurner
  2. Select your feed from the control panel
  3. Under Feed Stats, you will see an export
    • export your statistics from feedburner
  4. Then you can have it in either Excel of CSV format
  5. Proceed to generate your graphs as before :D

I wonder how this will end up, are google just restricting the stats for the sake of it.

Thanks Louis, hopefully Google/Feedburner will answer this. So much for customer service, I know it’s only a free service, butt still I would expect better.

Is there an alternative service to FeedBurner?

The good news is that that is back to working again. As for an alternative, I think FeedBurner is unique in what it does ( one of the reasons for the buy out from Google I’m sure).
